Chesapeake – Matron C. Scott, 64, of the 2800 block of Candlewood Cir., a retired educator from the Chesapeake School System, transitioned August 24, 2012 at a local hospital. She was born to the late Harrison and Matron Ivey-Beckett in Bells Mill, Norfolk County now Chesapeake. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

Survivors left to cherish her memory, her husband Vernon T. Scott; two sons, Vernon Jr. (Helen), and Vashon (Michelah); two daughters, Vanessa Hill and Dionne Everett (Rian); six sisters, Onriett White, Sylvia Beckett, Dr. Joyce Purnell (John), Jacqueline Wilson, Darlene Hooks and Rosie Pete; twelve grandchildren; two nieces, one great niece, and six nephews; one God daughter; her YaYa sisters and husbands; a host of cousins, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 884 Bells Mill Road, Chesapeake, with Bishop K.W. Brown is senior pastor and Elder Sarah E. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 3pm – 7 pm Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake where the family will receive friends from 6-7pm.
