Chesapeake - On Saturday, May 17, 2008, the Lord called our beloved Mattie Mae Lawrimore Hopkins home. Mattie was born on September 17, 1947 in Georgetown, S.C. to Pennie Lawrimore and the late Edward Joseph Lawrimore, Sr. She was a graduate of Crestwood High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. At an early age she was baptized and attended Bethel Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

We remember "Mae" as she was known to her family and friends as a caring person and a free spirit. We will miss her but know that she is in a better place.

She leaves her mother, Pennie L. Lawrimore, a sister, Dorothy Lawrimore, four brothers, Edward J. Lawrimore, Jr., Larry D. Lawrimore, Jerry R. Lawrimore, and Michael Lawrimore, one nephew and a host of aunts, nieces, cousins and friends.
