Chesapeake - Maurice Barco departed this life on May 7, 2015. Born January 8, 1929 in South Mills, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Ishmael and India Barco. He was a high school graduate and attended Tidewater Community College. He served in the United States Navy for 2 years and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps after 20 years of service. He will be remembered as a dear friend and mentor to many family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jonas C. Barco, daughter Marion L. Barco, brother Solomon Barco, sister Audrey Barco Jackson, grandchildren Latavia Jones and Glendon Barcliff, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Thursday at New Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be 4-7pm Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
