Melvin Eugene Albritton was called home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2018. He was a Lieutenant with the City of Chesapeake Fire Department, and retired after many years of loyal service. His passion was farming and he continued to farm until his health failed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Albritton; daughters, Tawanda Winder (Cornelius), and Pamela Hyman (Gary); sons Antonio Taylor (Kendra), Wayne Taylor, and Mario Albritton (Teyshone); his siblings Carolyn T. Albritton, Dorothy N. Jackson, Maurice B. Albritton (Yvonne), Theodore R. Albritton, and Caroletta Belcher (Alonzo), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at St. Thomas AME Zion Church, 1700 Melon Street, Norfolk. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. A wake service will be held from 6pm until 7pm Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
