Melvin B. Evans, Sr., departed this life on December 29, 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and he retired as a Logistics Specialist from Fort Lee Army Base. He was a dedicated member of Bethany Baptist Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, and Spring Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys O. Evans; two sons, Melvin B. Evans, Jr. (April) and Mark C. Evans (Andrea); five grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Crenshaw and Cynthia Crenshaw; one uncle, William Evans; three aunts, Emma Anderson, Delores Evans, and Barbara Evans; and a host of in-laws, cousins and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 2587 Campostella Road, Chesapeake. Burial will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
