Michael Lynn Morris, Sr. 61, Sterling, VA born September 19, 1958, a loving father, son, brother and friend to all who knew him, was called home to his eternal rest on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Preceded in death by his father, Henry Jefferson Morris, he is survived by his mother Dorothy M. Wilson Morris. He also leaves to treasure his memory, his children – Christina R. Morris, Kimberley (Michelle) Morris, and Michael L. Morris Jr.
His former spouse, Pamela Lovett Morris and stepchildren Sheca Lovett, Brian Lovett, Justin Lovett, Melissa Lovett, and Troy Lovett also survive Mr. Morris.
Along with his children, he leaves to celebrate his life, brothers - James R. Bembry, Sr. (Toni) Vern S. Morris (Jane), Reginald C. Morris (Karen), Joseph V. Morris (Brenda) sisters- Michelle L. Morris-Walls (William) Sharon T. Harris and Wanda Y. Morris. Michael's memory also lives on through a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Michael was a graduate of Granby High School, Norfolk VA. He retired from McLean Bible Church where he was employed as the facilities maintenance engineer for many years.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life. In 2018, he reaffirmed this faith commitment and was baptized again. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist church in Sterling, VA.
Michael adored his family and truly loved life. He enjoyed all sports –especially football, basketball, fishing and boxing. He was a gregarious spirit and endeared friends everywhere he went.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. Joseph A.M.E. Zion Church, 1540 Atlantic Avenue, Chesapeake, Virginia 23324, where viewing will begin Monday at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
