It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Smith, who left us peacefully on January 22, 2025. Remembering the life and legacy of a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, grandfather and friend.

Michael Willie Smith was born on January 26, 1956 to Willie and Ruth Smith in Norfolk Virginia.  He attended, Norview High School.  Michael was married to the late Sheila A. Smith and together they raised three children.  He is preceded by his mother Ruth Smith, father Willie Smith, Brothers Larry Cason, Kenneth Smith and Rodney Smith.   Michael is survived by his three loving daughters and six cherished grandchildren. Daughter's Veronica Owens (Herman Owens), Monica Moore (Isaiah Moore) and Sheila Hinnant.  Grandchildren,  Ke'Shawn Johnson, Jaamel Johnson,  Monae Moore, Misa Moore, Xavier Moore and Kyle Owens.  And a host of family and friends.

Michael, a quiet and private man, found joy in the simple things, including his love for music and sports. He was a steady presence to those who knew him, offering kindness and support in his own unique way. Though he led a private life, his impact on those closest to him was profound. He will be remembered for his loyalty to family and his gentle, calm nature.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery, 1000 E Indian River Road, Norfolk. Viewing will be from 4pm until 6pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake.
