Michael Maurice West, Sr., 69, went on to be with our LORD and Savior on April 13, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his mother, Lottie Mae West; father, Frederick O'Neal West, Jr., and two nieces.

He was the loving brother of two sisters, Maureen Haskins, Norfolk, Virginia, and Shirley Hicks (Roosevelt), Norfolk, Virginia; two brothers, Ronald West, Sr (Brenda), Hampton, Virginia, and Reuben West, Norfolk, Virginia.

Michael Maurice West, Sr, affectionately called "Mike", was his wife's best friend, soulmate, and the love of her life. They truly enjoyed life to its fullest. Mike had a special loving relationship with each of his children and grandchildren. He had a loving bond with his siblings, and his nieces and nephews loved "uncle mike".

Mike served 22 years of loyal service in the United States Air Force. He graduated from St. Leo College with a bachelor's degree. He then began his Civil Service Career at Fort Eustis as an IT Technician. He later transferred and continued his work at Langley Air Force Base. After 21 years of loyal service, he retired.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Edna West, Hampton Virginia; two daughters, Michele West-Brown (Jeff), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Jennifer West-Barlow (Altrique), Virginia Beach, Virginia; one son, Michael West, Jr., Chesapeake, Virginia; two stepdaughters, Antionette Brown, Fort Washington, Maryland and Bridgette Baldwin, Durham, North Carolina; and one stepson, Richard Brown, Atlanta, Georgia. He was blessed with fourteen beautiful grandchildren, three beautiful great grandchildren, one beautiful great-great grandchild, two very special people GOD sent his way, Gladys West and sister-in-law, Essie Holthzelaw, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, 5310 Milner's Road, Suffolk, Virginia. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
