Michael Nathaniel Wright was born April 18, 1957, to the late Jean Audrey Wright. He grew up in the Berkley neighborhood of Norfolk, where he attended Lake Taylor High School. He loved music, and he joined a band name the Cosmic Jammers, where he played the base guitar.

Michael attended a masonry school and became a brick mason.  His first job was working with Mr. Day. He was a hard worker and often did jobs on his own as well, and he did plenty of jobs. You could ride around Berkley and see porches, grills, and various jobs he performed.

Michael was a man who could talk to anyone. Whenever you see him, he always had a smile on his face. He maintained a friendship for over 30 years with Ernest Armstrong (Busta), Willie Rivers (Beep), and Manuel Martin (Man Martin). Michael was a loving man who was always smiling, and a man who was all about family. He loved getting together listening to music, cooking, and having a goodtime.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother Jean Audrey Wright and brother Christopher Wright.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Paulette Davis; sister Barbara Pippen; children Carla Woods, Danielle Woods, Michael Drewitt; grandkids Demonte Woods, Tamya Woods, Michael Joyner, Justin Joyner, Aniya Staton and Zyon Jefferson; two great grandkids Aubrei Norfleet and Amari Norfleet; nieces Patricia Wright and Toya Wright; nephews Christopher Wright Jr. and Noah Pippen; an aunt, Claudette Johnson (James), an uncle, Stanley Wright, and host of great nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
