Chesapeake- Mildred Scott Hendricks, 90, of the 4100 block of Leyte Avenue departed this life April 20, 2011. Born in Norfolk, she was employed with the Norfolk Public School System for over 35 years until she retired. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Bute Street, where she was a member of the choir and the usher board. She was a member of the United Order of Tents, Mamie E. Gordon Chapter.

She is predeceased by her husband, Daniel E. Hendricks. Survivors include her daughter, Danetta E. Henricks of Maryland; a sister, Helen Smallwood of Portsmouth; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Scott of Chesapeake, and Helen Scott of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Bute Street. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Tuesday from 3 pm- 7 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to READY Academy Christian School, Norfolk, Virginia.
