IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred A.
Owens
February 25, 1937 – March 14, 2019
On Thursday, March 14, 2019, God called home one of his dearest Angels, Mildred Hudgins Owens. Mildred was born on February 25, 1937 to Winston and Leola Hudgins in Norfolk, VA. Mildred attended public school in Norfolk, VA and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She married her high school sweetheart from across the water, John A. Owens, Jr. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage and had six children.
Mildred was a sweet soul who cared for children of all ages. Besides raising her six children she also shared in raising her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a multitude of family and friends. Although sweet and gentle Mildred was a strict disciplinarian and the ultimate Lioness when it came to her children and even more so when it came to her grandchildren.
Mildred was a member of Monticello Baptist Church in Norfolk. She looked forward to each Sunday Morning to hear her son-in-law preach the gospel and to hear the choir minister. She loved the children of Monticello Baptist Church and would encourage them in all their ministry activities. She loved her church family and served as a church mother serving out Godly wisdom on a regular basis.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her six children, Tracey Owens of Norfolk, VA, Debra Harden (Carl) of Killeen, TX, Johnical Haynes (Anthony) of Chesapeake, VA, Gregory Owens of Norfolk, VA, Clovita Owens of Norfolk, VA and Michelle Jones (Timothy) of Woodbridge, VA.
Also left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Mario, Melvin, Greg Jr., Jovan, Mylitia, Wynter, Victoria, Samuel, Jessica, Corey, Nickolas and one great grandson Milton.
