On Monday, November 26, 2018, the Lord called home Mother Mildred Paulette Thoroughgood Spence into eternal rest.

Mildred, known to many as Paulette, was born February 22, 1944 to the late Elder John Thomas and Mildred Beatrice Cooper Thoroughgood,Sr. She was the fourth of nine children, four who proceeded her in death, Doris C. Spence, John T. Thoroughgood,Jr., Bishop Barnett K. Thoroughgood, and Supt. Y.D. B. Thoroughgood.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 51 years, Elder Joseph Rome Spence; two daughters, Mildred "Mimi" Paulette Spence-Hernandez(Mario), and Kimberly Lynette Spence-Pride(Elder Joseph,Jr.); three granddaughters, Ana Rome Hernandez, Hannah Evelia Hernandez, and Leena Dunkley; siblings, Alice Faye Major, Otis Thoroughgood, Darnell Thoroughgood, and Paul Thoroughgood, and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10am on Saturday at New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be on Friday from 5-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
