Portsmouth - Milford Rhodes, Sr., 85, was called home to rest January 26, 2008 at his home.  Born in Norfolk County, VA to the late Milton and Lucy Rhodes, he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Berkley.



Mr. Rhodes was a graduate of Norfolk County High School. He retired from Craney Island, U.S. Navy Fuel Depot, and he spent many years as a building engineer at Chesapeake General Hospital.  He was a patient, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.



Mr. Rhodes is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Emma Jones Rhodes; one son Rev. Milford G. Rhodes, Jr. (Audrey); a sister Bertha Lamb (Rev. James) of Chesapeake; three grandchildren Morgan Rhodes (Ronald Scott) , Melani Rhodes and Minister Aimee Rhodes, all of Newport News, VA, nine great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends.



The family will receive friends from 6pm - 8pm Friday at First Baptist Church, Berkley, where the funeral service will be held noon Saturday. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
