Chesapeake – Morris T. McLeod, 60, of the 900 block of New Mill Drive was called home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2010. On June 20th 1950, in McCain N.C. God saw fit to bless the late Morris E McLeod and Lula Pearl McLeod with a beautiful baby boy. He was raised with a strong and loving hand of God. At the age of seven his family located to Brooklyn NY, and eventually migrated to Queens NY, where he attended John Adams High School in South Ozone Park. He was a star football player. He attended Nassau Community College and majored in Physical Education, and transferred to UCONN, which prepared him for his future in working with the I.R.S. holding several prominent positions. After thirty-four years Morris retired as a Revenue Officer, he was admired and respected by many.
Morris was pre-deceased by his father Morris E. McLeod, and his sister Lola McLeod. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Jeryl, daughter Cheyne, and mother Lula Pearl McLeod. He also leaves siblings Margaret Gibson (James), Deborah Sherrod, Deidre McLeod-Morris (David), Lowell McLeod (Robyn), a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and all of his "adopted" children. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Bells Road. Interment will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held 3 – 8pm Monday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 7-8pm.
