Obituary

Chesapeake- Nathaniel Williams, Jr. 69, of the 2100 block of Burnside Place, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, December 25, 2006 after a long illness. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, February 7, 1937 to the late Nathaniel Williams, Sr., and revived by his mother Evelyn Williams. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Earle Ashby and Grant Fields.



Nathaniel was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He also attended Morgan State College and Virginia Union University. Highlights of his career included serving as a counselor in Washington, D.C., at a correctional school, assistant counselor with the Norfolk City Schools and also a counselor at the Chesapeake Dention Home. He served his country with the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve.



He is a member of New Central Baptist Church from a child in the Berkley section of Norfolk, where he served with the Nathaniel Beamon Men?s Fellowship, and also served the Video Ministry since 1995 that touched so many lives with the sick and shut in members of the church.



He is survived by his mother, Evelyn F. Williams, a sister, Sylvia Butler and brother-in-law, William, God sister, Dr. Catherine Williams, three sons, Elder Anthony Williams and wife, Sabrina, Maurice Williams and wife, Marilyn, and Nathan Boone. Nathaniel has four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.



A service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 12:00 noon in New Central Baptist Church, 700 Walker Avenue, Norfolk, by Dr. H. Bernard Branch. Interment will follow the service at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The family will receive family and friends at the residence, 2120 Burnside Place, Chesapeake.
