Nellie "Ann" White, 66, of Chesapeake, Virginia died peacefully at her home on March 27, 2017. She was born May 24, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland to Betty and Ralph Pembleton Sr. She attended Chesapeake Public Schools and was a graduate of Great Bridge High School.

After high school, she enjoyed her life being a housewife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family and helping in raising her grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Ann knew she did not minced words. She told people how she felt and did not apologize for it; many people loved her for it. You could count on Ann to tell you the truth whether you liked it or not.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Betty and Ralph Pembleton Sr., her companion and husband of 34 years, Clavin "Clay" White, her sister, Robin B. Pembleton, her brothers, Ralph "Suhun" Pembleton Jr. and Glenn "Wampun" Pembleton.

She is survived by her six children, Tammy Quent from Virginia Beach, Mark Quent from Portsmouth, Regina Pembleton from Portsmouth, Fleta Boyd from Chesapeake, John Quent from Newport News, and Lisa Quent from Portsmouth, 25 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where viewing will be from 2-5pm Sunday.
