Odessa L. McDonald, 94, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017. Born on November 22, 1922 in the Weeksville Section of Pasquotank County, now Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Edward James and Mary Bessie Winslow James .

She is survived by three sons, Alphonso McDonald (Joyce), Seth McDonald, Jr. (Valerie), and Rev. Kelvin McDonald, Sr. (Brenda); two daughters, Maidie Edison (Wilbert), and Erma Stokely (Alan); daughter-in-law, Janice McDonald; grandchildren, great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Lee's Chapel AME Church,1036 Bells Mill Rd, Chesapeake, where viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. the day of the service. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 5-7pm Friday, August 18, 2017 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home.
