Ophelia Pouncy, 85, of Chesapeake, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, June 03, 2018. She was born on May 12, 1933 in Vredenburg, Alabama to the late D.C. and Ora Finklea. She was educated in the Alabama School System and she retired after 20 years of dedicated service from Norfolk Naval Base.

Ophelia was married to the love of her life, the late James Pouncy for 56 years and from that union she had 7 children.  She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories, two sons, Robert Pouncy and his wife Joyce, and James Pouncy, Sr., all of Chesapeake, VA; three daughters; Yolanda Claggion, also of Chesapeake, VA; Sharon Thomas and her husband Keith of Lanham, MD and Tammy Melvin of Woodbridge, VA; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her two sons:Michael and Tyrone Pouncy.

Viewing will be Friday, June 08, 2018 from 6pm until 8pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. A home going service will be  held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 09, 2018 at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2201 Wingfield Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23324. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk.
