Chesapeake – Mr. Ovid "Nick" Nichols, 88, of the 900 block of Bells Mill Road entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Chesapeake General Hospital. Mr. Nichols was born to the late Pearl Tindale and Edward Bell. He was married to the love of his life for over 50 years, the late Sarah "Sugardoll" Nichols, whom he called "Punkin." Mr. Nichols was a native of Chesapeake, but he resided in New York for over 40 years until he retired from the New York Transit and the School Board.
A service of celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake by the Rev. Dr. K.W. Brown. Burial will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Mr. Nichols will be placed in church at 9:00 a.m. the day of the service. Viewing will be held Monday from 2pm – 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The family will gather at the residence one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church.
