Patricia Ann Griffin departed this life on Monday, January 17, 2022.  She was born in South Norfolk, Virginia on July 4, 1953. Patricia was the daughter of the late James Allen Griffin, Sr. and Elouise Parson Griffin.  She was a faithful member of St Joseph AME Zion Church where she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.  She was a member of the Youth Choir, Mass Choir, Senior Choir, and Gospel Choir. She was a Class Leader, Missionary and was involved in just about every aspect of church life. She was a 1971 graduate of Crestwood High School.  Soon after graduating from high school, she was employed by the Chesapeake Police Department where she worked for 40+ years. She retired from the Chesapeake Police Department on February 1, 2018.

Patricia loved to travel.  Whenever there was a road trip she was ready to go. Patricia had a quiet and gentle spirit, always going out of her way to help anyone. She was a much loved sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.  Patricia will be greatly missed by all.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents James and Elouise Griffin, her sister Gail E. Griffin, her nephew Charles E. Griffin whom Patricia raised after the death of his mother Gail, and her niece Ashley R. Sawyer.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life:  her sisters; Carolyn G. Sawyer, Barbara A. Griffin and Darlene G. Bell all of Chesapeake, brothers; James A. Griffin, Jr of Chesapeake, Vernon N. Griffin (Vanessa) of Virginia Beach, Glenn D. Griffin (Michelle) of Temple Hills, Maryland and Jerry M. Griffin of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; eight nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 23 ^rd between 3-5PM at Pretlow and Sons in Chesapeake. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 24 ^th at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph AME Zion Church, 1540 Atlantic Ave., Chesapeake, VA.
