Obituary




Chesapeake- Paul Timothy Staten,
78, of the 2300 block of Tapscott Avenue went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.



A native of Keysville, VA, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Nannie Staten. He retired as a supervisor from the Norfolk Naval Supply Center where he was employed for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the Prince Hall Masons, Inc. Campbell Lodge #67. He was a member of the Gents of Providence Square Civic Organization. He was a faithful member of Chesapeake Christian Center for 14 years.





He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Delcia Bell Staten, and a daughter, Paula L. Staten; two sisters, Juanita Williams, Chesapeake; Bernice Wilson, Florida and Yvonne Kinlock , New York and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.





Paul was very devoted to his family and was always willing to help anyone in anyway he could. Paul never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He was also known as the "Great Debater."





A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm at Chesapeake Christian Center, 300 Liberty St., Chesapeake, VA. Dr. Marvin L. Duke will officiate. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 29 th at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake from 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
