Raymond Sylvester Robinson, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Common Wealth Memory Care in Chesapeake, VA. He was born April 29, 1921 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late John Forest Robinson and Cola Blanche Almond.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Edna T. Turner on December 27, 1940. To this union, a son was born, Raymond Jr. He accepted Christ at a very young age and became a member of First Baptist Church Bolling Brook for over 80 years. He was the superintendent of the Sunday school and a Deacon.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army from May 1944 to January 1956. He held several jobs before working for Salder Ready Mix Corporation in 1965 and worked there until he in retired 1993. After retirement he enjoyed traveling, visiting family and helping with anything that First Baptist Church Bolling Brook needed.

Raymond is preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna; son, Raymond Jr. and grandson Raymond III.

He leaves to cherish his memories his grandchildren Jenell, Raymond IV, Michael, Melvin and Kimberlee Jones; his great-grandchildren Raynell, Raymond V, Jordan, Donovan, Joi, Cameron, Adrianne, Angel, Quincy and Olivia; his great-great-grandchildren Raniyah, Riyan, Connor and Cole; his sister Blanche Stanley; his stepbrothers and stepsisters; devoted niece LaVerne Jones; a host of nieces, nephews and friend.

A homegoing service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at First Baptist Church Bolling Brook, 120 Filbert Street, Norfolk, where viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. the day of the service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
