HER LIFE JOURNEY

Regena Elizabeth Griffin, oldest daughter to Emmanuel and Emily Evans, born March 30, 1965 in Norfolk, Virginia laid down her SuperPower Sword Tuesday, February 11, 2025 and walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Regena courageously fought many battles since early 2000 of Sarcoidosis, Breast Cancer twice, Heart disease (LVAD heartmate3 machine) and never complained. She was Predeceased by her Parents, Emmanuel T. Evans and Emily W. Evans; Daughter, Precilla Griffin; Sister, Emma Evans-Woodley; Grandson, Matthew Griffin; Father-in-law Richard A. Griffin Jr. and Mother-in-law Pattie L. Griffin. Regena as a child was a member of New Hope COGIC and later in her adult years she became a member of St Joseph AME Zion church until death. Regena graduated in 1984 from Indian River High School, Chesapeake Virginia, where she met and eventually married her compassionate high school sweetheart, Richard A. Griffin III in 1985. They resided with the Griffin family and neighboring family on Hemple Street, Chesapeake VA for many years and raised 3 amazing children until divorced and reunited bringing them full circle back to Hemple Street. Regena and Richard (Trae) were always there for each other during several life changing events. Together they created many fun and loving memories, special occasions, outings, cooking, shopping, cake & ice cream or just watching television shows together. Regena worked hard and because of her health conditions she retired as Custodian from Chesapeake Public Schools about 7 years ago. She continued a special bond with her co-workers from all of her previous jobs and they as well as other friends regularly met up to share lunch together. Regena was well known for her strength and determination of Life which seemed to many as having Superpowers, making her in most eyes affectionately our "WONDER WOMAN/SUPER WOMAN" in spite of all that she had to endure medically. Loved by many for her kind and gentle personality and her strong love for family, she was devoted to keeping in touch with family through calls and visits. She proudly wore shirts with a quote " God is Great, I am living proof " and the warrior in her always fought each battle with a smile allowing nothing to bother her. Regena found Strength in her faith, family and definitely from the deep love for her grandkids all of which brought her peace through all of her sickness. She constantly pushed through as nothing else mattered except the love of God and her Family. She spent her birthdays doing whatever the grandkids wanted to do such as watching a cartoon movie and going to Chick fil a. Her Love languages were "Acts of Service and Quality Time"! She often said her LVAD heart surgery was done so she could spend more time with her grandchildren especially after the death of her daughter, Precilla. After her death she took custody of her grandson Malachi their bond became inseparable and more of a mother, son and the joy of each other's lives. One of her passions were watching Paparazzi live videos on facebook and buying totes upon totes of Paparazzi jewelry and ISPY makeup bags. LOL! She had enough to be a consultant with her own personal inventory. Regena's enjoyment was also having all the kids over to play together as she sat and watched them. She loved all the grands just the same and included a special great nephew, DeAngelo as a grandson as well. Her other enjoyments were talking on the phone with her sister Saundra everyday, sharing recipes, outings, attending appointments together and going out to eat afterwards.

Regena leaves to celebrate her life and treasure her memory are, two Sons: Preston James Evans (Shiekaria), Richard A. Griffin IV, two sisters: Saundra Evans and Faith Evans (Donald); two brothers Kelvin Lawrence (Tammi) and Darrell Jackson; ten grandchildren: Israel A. Griffin, Malachi E. Griffin, Richard A.
