On Monday, July 27, 2020, our beloved angel, Reneka Latisha Christina Evans, was called home to be with the Lord. Reneka or Nicki, as she was affectionately called, was born on May 25, 1978, in Norfolk, VA. Nicki was preceded in death by her mother, Christine Evans Ford and her grandparents Barry Sr. and Devora Evans and Richard Ford, Sr.

Nicki graduated from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA. She received her Bachelors from Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA and her Masters from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.

Nicki accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of The Way of Truth C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Wilbert J.L. McNair, Sr. Although she did not have children of her own, she loved kids. Nicki was involved in many youth programs in church and with schools. She worked as a 3rd Grade Elementary Teacher at Parkway Elementary in Virginia Beach, VA for over 10 years. During that time, she received Teacher of the Year. Prior to that, she was a Teacher with Hampton Public Schools. Nicki also worked part-time at Champs Athletic Footwear in Greenbrier and MacArthur Malls for over 10 years.

Nicki leaves to cherish her memories, her father, Gregory D. Ford (Gloria), her grandmother, Mrs. Shirley Boykins Ford, 7 aunts, Barbara Jean, Beverly, Candance, Carolyn, Cassandra, Earlene, Gwendolyn, and Nancy, and 2 uncles, Barry Evans, Jr. and Richard Ford, Jr. She also leaves behind her Godparents, Elder Alphonso and Diane Hawkins, a host of cousins, friends, students, and the Parkway Elementary Faculty Family. Nicki was loved and will be missed by all.

Viewing will be held Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 3 pm until 4 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake. The funeral service will be private.
