Our beloved Pastor, Reverend Mary Ellen Holloway departed this life on September 10, 2017 at her home in Norfolk, VA. She was born in Kinston, NC on May 16, 1923 to the late Walter Mack Sandlin and Carrie Artis Sandlin. She was predeceased by six siblings and two daughters.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Croghan (Michael Croghan) of Oceanside, CA; three daughters Barbara Ganues of Raleigh, NC, Josephine Mercer (Herbert Mercer) of Norfolk, VA, and Phyllis Small of Detroit, MI; her eleven grandchildren LaVelle Morring, Phillip Manley, Antoine Small, Desiree Manley, Kimberly Holloway, Millie Holloway, Joshua J. Ganus, Robbie Boone, Angela Christian, Chante Mimms and Ellen R Holloway; as well as a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and the Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples family.

Reverend Mary Ellen Holloway dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She was the pastor of Philadelphia Church of Christ in Norfolk, VA for many years before returning to her home church Smyrna Church of Christ of Norfolk, VA as Assistant Pastor to Reverend Susie Saunders. She helped in any area there was a need. She served on the Board of Elders and was a teacher of the Noon Day Bible Study. She served faithfully until her health issues prevented it. Reverend Holloway was a prayer warrior and a worshipper.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples, 741 Marshall Avenue in Norfolk.  Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will meet and greet friends Friday from 5-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home.
