Richard Crawford Mackey, 62, peacefully passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016. Born to James and Katie Mackey, Richard was a native of Norfolk Virginia, where he attended Maury high school. He loved helping others and listening to good music. Up until December of 2015, Richard was a devoted employee at Sacred Heart Church where he enjoyed working in the kitchen amongst friends.He is predeceased by his parents James & Katie Mackey, brother Willie Mackey and niece Karen Rainey.

Richard leaves to cherish his memories five sisters, Betty Rainey(William)of Woodbridge, Edith Mackey of Portsmouth,Joyce Moore of Woodbridge, Hannah White of Norfolk and Jacqueline Mackey of Suffolk ;3 brothers James Mackey of New Jersey, Eugene Mackey of New Jersey and Quintin Mackey of Portsmouth; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; a best friend Arthur Hicks, and a good friend Neil Walsh. Richard will forever be missed. Though he was a moment in our arms, he will be a lifetime in our hearts.

A homegoing celebration will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Central Baptist Church, 700 Walker Avenue, Norfolk. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
