Rita Ridley-Cornegay 58, of Chesapeake, Virginia, transitioned to her new home in Heaven on October 27, 2015. Rita is survived by her loving husband John Keith; her sons, Cameron David Cornegay; Jeremy Ryan Wilson; Christopher Wilson; and Will Wilson, Jr; and her faithful rescue companions, Baloo & Nyla; her nieces, Ruthie Stony Bates-Patrick, Robyn Elise Stoney and Shonte Torrae Ridley; sisters, Jennifer and Claudia; and dear aunts; Barbara Ridley; Floretta Ridley; cousins, niece, nephews, and close friends. Rita was preceded in passing by her mother, Anna Lee Gupton, father, Theodore Russell Ridley, Sr. and brother, Theodore R. Ridley, Jr. and his wife Doris Gilliam.
Rita was born on September 28th, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia. Rita's childhood was very active as she spent her early years traveling and staying with many of her family members along the east coast. Rita graduated from Maury High School in 1975, and was an outstanding student. Rita worked in the restaurant business for a few years before becoming a fitness instructor in the early 80s and later on a real estate agent for Goodman, Segar and Hogan. In 1993, Rita became a sales consultant for Mary Kay cosmetics and eventually worked her way up to the status of independent sales director. Through Mary Kay and real estate, Rita began and maintained many healthy relationships between customers and consultants throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 884 Bells Mill Road, Chesapeake. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
