Norfolk - On Wednesday, December 31, 2014, our family circle was broken when the Lord called home our beloved Robert Lee Brinkley to eternal rest. He was born on October 9, 1935 in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Eleazer and Eleanor Brinkley. He was employed with the City of Norfolk until his retirement.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Mary M. Brinkley and his sister, Shirley Farmer. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Melvin Broadnax, Lisa Broadnax, Marie Broadnax, Jerry Broadnax, Prenesia Barrett and Robert Barrett; sisters, Marjorie Ankins, Dorothy Mercer, Virginia Guy, Helen Demery and Mary Lyons; brothers, Charles Brinkley(Alice), Forrest Brinkley, Horace Brinkley (Edith) and Johnny Silver and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm Tuesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.petlowandsons.com.
