IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert C.
Richards
July 13, 1966 – June 6, 2023
Robert Carmicheal Richards Sr., affectionately called Slim and Big Bob by his family and friends, was born July 13, 1966, in Trinidad and Tobago. He was called home to be with the Lord June 6, 2023, at the young age of 56. Robert was a wonderful father, brother, and friend, who touched the lives of everyone around him. He was funny, and a people person, who was always happy.
Robert was a man who loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of New Life Church of Virginia Beach, Virginia. At New Life Church, he faithfully served on the Security Team, and attended the weekly Men's Ministry, where he often led bible study. He njoyed serving as security for the youth ministry events. This gave him the opportunity to engage, mentor, and inspire the youth. He was a gentle giant with a big personality, and all the youth admired, respected, and loved him dearly.
Robert's greatest passions was cooking West Indian dishes. He was a great cook and often invited friends and family to his home for a delicious meal. He would serve everyone. Afterwards, there was fellowship and laughter. Although, he loved cooking, serving in church, reading the bible, and praying, he also enjoyed his hobbies: plants, fishing, and spots. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers.
Robert taught the younger generation to always listen and follow the directions of those in authority. If you listened to him and stayed on the right path in life you would fulfill your life's dreams. Because as a heavy equipment operator, Robert dreamed of owning his own business. He studied and received several certificates towards receiving a business license.
Robert would say," spread love everywhere you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." Because he knew, you never know the battles others are fighting, and there is always something to be grateful for every day. He was a very helpful person and had a heart that would help anyone. Because the joyful heart that he displayed made a lot of people happy, especially when they were having a bad day.
Robert will be remembered for his love of God, serving him with his whole heart, praying for others, and reading and studying the Word of God. His favorite scriptures throughout his journey were Psalm 23, Psalm 91, and Acts 1:8. He will be missed dearly and loved always.
