Robert Townsend Jr. (Bobby) passed away on September 26, 2022 at the age of 60, in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. His battle with medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Bobby came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Bobby was born on June 30th, 1962. His parents were Robert L. Townsend Sr. and Hazel Townsend who proceeded him in death. He was born in Norfolk, VA and attended Norfolk Public Schools. He graduated from Norview High School and joined the United States Marine Corps. Upon finishing his tour of service, he returned home and attended Norfolk State University while taking part in the Spartan "Legion" marching band as a trumpet player.

Bobby was passionate about working on automobiles as a master mechanic. If you needed your car fixed, he had you covered. He was later employed by the Department of Veteran Affairs in Hampton, VA where he continued serving his country.

Bobby is survived by his son, Robert L. Townsend III, one aunt, Ruth D. Holmes, and a host of cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 17, 2022 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
