Chesapeake - Ronald J. Branch, Sr., 66 of the 2800 block of Omar Street passed away on October 11, 2011 at 9:41 am. He was born to the late Lydia and Clarence Branch on August 24, 1945 in Norfolk. He was educated in Norfolk Public School System. He retired after 23 years of service with Vulcan Material Inc. as a driver.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lydia W. and Clarence H. Branch, Sr. He is survived by his wife Darlene R. Branch of 31 years; eight children, Deanna Archibald (Antonio), Brenda Little (Red), Ronald J. Branch Jr., Germaine Pope (Sue), Renee Walker, Gilletta Pope, Ronald J. Branch III (LaDonna), and Lydia Branch; two brothers, Earl Langston (Constance) and Clarence Branch, Jr. (Crystal); twelve grandchildren,, one great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was a very generous, kind-hearted, unselfish, compassionate, hardworking and loving husband and father. He was known for his fun personality and his stylish wardrobe. He welcomed everyone who come in his presence. He took great pride in taking care of his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by many people because he loved whole heartedly.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011 at New Hope Congregational Christian Church, 145 East Liberty Street, Norfolk, with Evangelist Michelle Donaldson, officiating. The family will receive friends 3pm-7pm, Friday, October 14, 2011 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake. The family will assemble at 2809 Omar Street, Chesapeake, one hour prior to the service for the procession. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
