Obituary

Rosemary Williams, was born March 21, 1952, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Frank R. Wood and Mary (Buggs) Wood. Rosemary "Nana" Williams transitioned from this life to her Eternal Home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021.

Rosemary was the eldest of six children: Alonzo Buggs, Harriett Ann Amos, Arlene F. Wood, Willie Ann Causey, Larry R. Wood (deceased), and Frank R. Wood (deceased).  Sister Rosemary was raised in a firm household that believed in hard work, discipline and the Word of God. She received her education in churches everywhere she lived.

Sister Rosemary was married to SSGT Ivory L. Williams on April 6, 1974 (47 years).  As a result of their union, they raised their five children in the "fear and admonition of the Lord":  Paul Erman Henderson of Richmond, VA; Pastor Devanice Michelle Ball (Danny) of Dayton, OH; Pastor Cora Lynnette Nicholson (Pastor Reuben),  and Jeremiah "Kimberly" Diggs (Anthony).  She is preceded in death by her son, Franklin A. Williams.

She went on to assist in parenting three additional children, to include two of her grandchildren and Javon Carter.  While  Javon Carter was not a blood relative, she loved him as if she birthed him herself.  Javon will remain with the family as she would have wanted.

Her life was about her Saviour and her service to the sick, shut-in, homeless, single mothers, widows and many others.  She was a woman that believed in the power of prayer and worship.  As a result of their military service, the family worshipped at various church locations just to name a few:  Deliverance Evangelistic Temple (Jacksonville, NC) and New Assembly Church of Deliverance (Portsmouth, VA).

Sister Rosemary was an accountable, dedicated, honorable and humble servant of the Lord.  She believed in stewardship of everything the Lord blessed her with, especially to the churches in which she worshipped.  She had a deep commitment to the will and way of Christ.  Throughout her spiritual journey she admonished and exemplified "walking in faith", "being a vessel" and "loving" her brother "as oneself".

She did not believe in just sitting on the pews, she understood the importance of service in the Kingdom of God and the community.  Rosemary was on various usher boards, committees, and choirs.  Her love for worship was expressed through her anointed and powerful voice.  In fact, at one point in her life she sang backup for James Cleveland and Shirly Caesar.  She was also offered a recording contract of which she declined because they wanted her to only sing secular music.  Her favorite songs were: Everyday is a Day of Thanksgiving and He's Sweet I Know.

Sister Rosemary had various jobs to include:  working in childcare; a gardener for Teeuween Greenhouse and home-care services (of which her most beloved client was Mr. Barksdale of Chesapeake, VA).

Early on in her role as grandmother, she was nicknamed "Nana", of which many people outside of the family refer to her to this day.  Her grandchildren includes:  Angelique, D'Andre, Tazsie, Dominique, Janet, Frank, Tehya, and Daniel.  She has three great grandchildren:  Zoie, Kymani, and King.

In the last year, the Lord has done such great things in Rosemary's life.  She was able to see two of her daughters and her son-in-law called and commissioned into ministry.  She was able to reconcile with loved ones.  Her Kingdom family expanded to include the Trumpets and the Ascension Hub Network (both Apostolic and Prophetic ministries), of which she traveled and shared her anointed instrument of worship.

In addition to her living children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she leaves to rejoice in her memory a host of nieces, nephews, ex-husband Paul E. Henderson (Juanita), in-laws, and other relatives and friends.

In celebration with Sister Rosemary, we too celebrate her homegoing! "When you hear of my homegoing, don't worry about me because I'm just another soldier at home!" Glory Hallelujah!  What a day, a glorious day!

Sister Rosemary's homegoing celebration will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, where viewing will be from 5pm until 7pm Thurdsay, May 13, 2021.
