Rosetta Finney Spires, age 84, went home peacefully at Chesapeake Regional Hospital on Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born to John and Rozina Finney on December 28, 1938, in Norfolk, Virginia. She worked at General Electric and The Lillian Vernon Corp. for 30 years. She was an active St. Thomas AME Church of Norfolk, VA member.

Rosetta's passion was to provide love and comfort to her children, grandchildren and extended family members. She truly represented the love of Christ as she served others with great joy and compassion, with her love for cooking and her passion for fashion. Her joy for life and ability to make others laugh was God's gift to others. She encouraged and inspired others to look and be their best regardless.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Oliver Fonville; daughter, Michelle Edwards; two brothers, John Finney Jr., and Ridgewell Finney; stepdaughter, Rozina Spires; stepson, Poitier Lopez Spires; granddaughter, Kedron Jones; three great-grandchildren Kimore Griffin, Keiland Blackley, and Makynzi Blackley; and a host of family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, 11/14/2023 at St. Thomas AME Zion Church,1700 Melon Street, Norfolk, VA 23523. Viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm on Monday, November 13, 2023.
