IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruben Harold
Stephenson, Jr.
December 23, 1963 – December 9, 2024
Ruben Harold Stephenson Jr. was born on December 23, 1963, to proud parents, Ruben H. Stephenson Sr. and Mamie Jeanette Braxton-Stephenson in Norfolk, Virginia.
On December 9, 2024, Ruben made his final lap around this amazing world he enjoyed so very much. He is in his eternal resting place with his ancestors.
Ruben was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools System. He was a proud 1982 graduate of Matthew Fountain Maury High School. He was an outstanding member of the varsity basketball team. Many still have great memories of #30 running up and down that court scoring points for the team. After graduation Ruben decided to serve his country by joining the US Army. This is where he developed his passion and love for security and safety. Ruben continued his education in executive security by obtaining various degrees and certificates to become an expert in his chosen field. This choice allowed him to travel and see the world.
Ruben was well respected in the executive security world working for industry giants such as Vance International, Huffman Security, and finishing his career as a Senior Safety Coordinator at Sellen Construction. He was also a proud member of local #242. Ruben retired from his career in Seatle, Washington. In 2023 Ruben made Greensboro, North Carolina his home. He continued to work on projects in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. The Ballentine community was his first love. He often came home and connected with his large network of lifelong friends and family.
Ruben loved his family and often traveled to attend family events and just to say hello. He was always just a phone call away if you needed him regardless of where he was in the world.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents Ruben H. Stephenson Sr. and Mamie Stephenson; his brother-DeAngelo Stephson (Keke); grandparents James Morgan Braxton and Mamie White-Braxton, and his loving aunts Maurice Braxton-Grant and Ida Louise Crossen.
He leaves to mourn his death his son Christopher Moore of Norfolk, Virginia; sisters Michelle L. Stephenson-Ford (Kurt), and Felicia Stephenson-Pitt (Ricky Sr.) all of Lumberton, North Carolina.
He also leaves to mourn a special cousin who grew up like his brother, Russell C. White (Patricia) of Woodbridge, Virginia; his aunts: Audrey Bond (James) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Lucille Dean (David) and Mildred Stephenson all of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; his uncles: Talmadge Hunt Sr. (Helen), Rudolph Braxton (Katherine) of Norfolk, Virginia, and John Lee Stephenson of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a group of loving extended family and friends.
Ruben had an extensive circle of lifelong friends who walked his life journey by his side: Mark Lawson Michael Chapman and Lawrence Knight. Their bond will never be broken.
