Norfolk- Rudolph Augustus Wallace, 75, of the 1700 block of Oakfield Avenue departed this life May 25, 2007. Born in Norfolk, he served in the United States Air Force and retired after over 23 years of dedicated service. Upon retiring from the military, he was employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for over 20 years retiring again in 1993. He was a longtime member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, where he served on the usher board. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of St. Paul Masonic Lodge #34.
He is predeceased by his parents, Hezekiah and Dorothy Wallace, a brother, Reginald Wallace and sisters, Lorraine Clark and Johnnie M. Wallace. Survivors include his wife Ruthie E. Wallace of Norfolk; daughter, Carol L. Wallace of Waldorf, Maryland; three sons, Rudolph A. Wallace (Mona) of Hampton, Anthony Wallace (Samantha) of Naperville, Illinois, and Carl T. Wallace (Theresa) of West Melborne, Florida; two sisters, Leatrice Candies of Oakland, California, and Thelma Wilson of Chesapeake; one brother, Irvin Wallace of Norfolk, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at noon at St. Mark United Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be held Tuesday from 2pm - 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive relatives and friends at 6pm.
