Chesapeake - Russell Alvin Moyler, Sr., 89, o the 2500 block Old Greenbrier Road was called home to be with the Lord December 22, 2006. Born in Sussex County, he was employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad for 44 years until his retirement. He was a member of Word of Faith Worship Center, an ordained Deacon, and father to many local churches.
He is predeceased by his son, Fred R. Moyler and his parents, Patrick and Virgie Moyler. Survivors include four daughters, Virgie D. Griffin (Daniel) of Chesapeake, Angela Hunt (Michael) of Norfolk, Blanche Felton (James) of Chesapeake, and Valerie Moyler of Portsmouth; eight sons, Elder Russell A. Moyler, Jr. (Shirley), and Bishop James Patrick Moyler (Janette) of Chesapeake, Clarence A. Moyler of Portsmouth, Robert L. Moyler (Stacey) of Detroit, Michigan, Donald E. Moyler of Williamsburg, Thomas Moyler, Samuel L. Moyler, and Benney Moyler (Anita) all of Chesapeake; thirty-nine grandchildren, fifty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will held Wednesday at noon at Cathedral of Faith COGIC. Interment will follow at Albert G Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will be Tuesday 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
