- Ruth R. Billups, 73, of the 600 block of Red Horse Lane entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
She was born in Norfolk and employed at Depaul Hospital until retirement.
Her husband, Norman Billups, Sr., parents, Alfred Gross and Beatrice Vincent Gross, brothers, Alfred, Morris, Samuel, William, Ivor, and Bernard Gross, sisters, Celestine Taylor, Constance Williams, and Yvonne Gross predeceased her.
She is survived by daughter, Tawana Billups Adams; sons, Elton Gross, Norman Billups Jr. (wife) Lisa, and Mitch Billups ; sisters, Evelyn Moore, Shirley Gross, and Brenda Nixon, Heromine McLemore, Alfreda Green, Margaret Brooks and Cassandra McNair, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16 th at St. Thomas AME Zion Church by Dr. Joseph Lamb, Pastor. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home.
