Norfolk—Mrs. Ruth Lee Parson, 85 of the 600 block of Appomattox St. was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk.
A native of Princess Anne County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nancy Boyd. Ruth was a staple in the Campostella-Berkley community and a member at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion church in Norfolk for over 50 years. She was a faithful servant of the Willing Workers Ministry, Usher Board, and the Missionary Board. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Ivan Boyd and Leonard Parson (Sandra); an adopted son Sylvester Daniels, three granddaughters, Ivette Isaac (Victor), Kyleah Parson and Dahiki Blakes, two grandsons, Ivan Boyd, Jr and Kyle Parson; five great-grandchildren, Nikita Wise, Jamal Boyd, Tyquan Blakes, Erykah Boyd, and Imyera Blakes, four great-great grandchildren, two sister in laws, Doris Parson and Nora Parson and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Viewing will be held at Pretlow & Sons, Funeral Home, 500 Liberty St., Chesapeake from 2pm to 5pm on Friday, November 25, 2011, where the family will receive loved ones form 4pm – 5pm and other times at the residence. Her Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion, 1700 Melon St. Norfolk, VA 23523 with Dr. Joseph E. Lamb Sr., officiating. The burial will be held at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
