Born on September 21, 1930, Ruthie was born to James Jones and Angie Lenhardt Jones in Greenville, South Carolina. She was educated in the public school system, and was a well-trained Cosmologist.
She was married to Chief Master Sergeant Edward (Willie) Wilson in 1954 and to that union three children were born; Edward Ricardo, Sharon Paulette, and Denise Darcel.
During their lifetime as an Air Force family they traveled extensively. They settled in Chesapeake, Virginia in 1973, where they united with New Central Baptist Church. She served on various committees and boards. She was an Usher, Deaconess, Pastor's Aide, and a Ruby Westbrook Missionary.
Ruthie was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward W. Wilson, and her daughter Sharon P. Lambert. She leaves to cherish her memory, son Edward (Gail), Denise (Karl), seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters Ann (Don), and Tecora (Broadus), and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at New Central Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm Thursday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
