Samuel Cornelius Wiggins, born June 21, 1924 in Norfolk, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014. He was the son of the late Moses Wiggins and Carriebell Williams and the widower of Annie L. Hagans Wiggins. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Thomas E. Williams and James S. Harris, and his sister, Therese Virginia Wiggins Dixon.
He served in the Navy and the Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War and World War II. While serving in the Army, he received several awards and decorations: Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Unit Citation, and the UN Service Medal.
Sam was employed for many years with the Colonial Store and various trucking companies. He loved driving the "big rigs" from state to state. He had retired after driving long distance for more than 25 years.
He is survived by his son, Samuel C. Wiggins, Jr., of Virginia Beach, Va., Carl Lee Wiggins of Iowa, and his daughter, Amiece Wiggins Wilbert of Chesapeake, Va.; a devoted niece, Regina Wiggins Rivera of Richmond, Va.; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Zola Wilson Harris of Norfolk, Va., and Barbara Williams of Newport, RI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Friday in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
