Life Reflections
Scharah Asana (Brown) Holmes was born August 21, 1970, in Boston MA, to Herbert and Bertha Brown and was the youngest of four children born to this union. She received new life through Christ and was baptized on April 5, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Brown Sr. and her daughter Maaquela Lottie Holmes.
Scharah was academically excellent, a gifted student, a self-starter and an independent thinker. Upon graduating from Hazelwood Central High School in St. Louis, MO, she attended a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Howard University, in Washington DC where she majored in Business. Scharah was a proponent of the pursuit of entrepreneurship and took advantage of all prospects and every opportunity to encourage in that direction.
Scharah supported her friends and community strongly and had an open-door policy for anyone who had a need. She was quick to not only share shelter or food but to advocate for friends and neighbors in need out of whatever knowledge or finances she had. She was also a champion of Sickle Cell Disease awareness as her two children were diagnosed at birth with this life altering illness.
Scharah loved each of her children and grandchild fiercely, deeply and unconditionally. There was no limit to what she would have done for them.
Scharah leaves behind her mother: Bertha Brown; siblings: J. Michele Brown, Herbert Brown Jr., and Trisha Brown; her sons: Darrell, Donte, Darien, Marquez and Jhaalil; granddaughter: Donnasia as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Scharah also leaves behind devoted and dearly loved friend, Rakettia Mason, along with a host of friends she loved from Missouri and around the country.
Scharah often began conversations with the words, “Peace & Love” and in that spirit, she adorned a beautiful smile, enjoyed a good time, and was always up for fun and laughter when opportunity presented itself. She will be greatly missed…
