Our On Sunday, September 29, 2019 our beloved Shawna Sumeka Cuffee was called home to be with the Lord surround by her family who loved her dearly. Shawna was born on December 1, 1980 in Norfolk General Hospital to Earlie and Cynthia Cuffee. She was a graduate of Oscar Smith High School, and she attended Keys Business College.

Shawna really loved and embraced life to the fullest. She enjoyed getting her hair done and driving many different cars she owned. But most of all she was a loving devoted mother, and she adored her daughter Akira Brown who was the light of her life. She also loved all of her family members in a very special way.  To know Shawna was to love her. She was loving, compassionate, and kind. Her smile would light up a room, and we will all miss her, but her memory will live on in our hearts.

Shawna was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Clarence Cuffee, Odell Black, and Ernest Gregory; her uncles Alonzo Cuffee and Alexander Cuffee. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Akira J.N.  Brown; parents, Earlie Lee Cuffee and Cynthia Lawrence Cuffee;  three brothers, Eric G. Cuffee, Kevin Cuffee, and Tyrone L. J. Cuffee; grandmothers, Annie M. Cuffee and Alva F. Black; three great aunts, Esther Bell, Austrila C. Walkins, and Novella Cuffee; two aunts, Earlene L. Simmons (Sammie), and Hazel M. Cuffee; one uncle, Carlton M. Black (Wilhelmina), and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where viewing will be 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Luke Church Cemetery, Chesapeake.
