Virginia Beach - On Monday, July 6, 2015, Sherwood Clinton Baker stepped into eternity. Sherwood was born in Portsmouth, VA to McConnell and Lula Baker on September 18, 1956. He was the eldest of six. He began his schooling in Norfolk, VA. But Sherwood graduated from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA in 1974. He completed his Pre-Pharmacy course work at Virginia Commonwealth University where he did become a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Continuing on he received his BS degree in Pharmacy at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA in 1981. Sherwood began working in his chosen profession by interning with Webb's Pharmacy, Norfolk, VA. His last position was Pharmacy Manager with Rite-Aid at Kemps River in Virginia Beach.
Sherwood married Annette Rene Holley on April 14, 1990. He accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart and God completed the work in him in the first 6 months of 2015. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 25 years; his mother, Lula Baker; two sisters, Sharon and Phyllis; two brothers, McConnell, Jr. and Daryl; three nieces, Jasmine, Brianne and Ava; one nephew, Jayden; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, cousins, friends and colleagues.
A wake service will be held at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 6pm. A celebration of life will be at New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11 am. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
