Chesapeake – Shirley Mae Skinner, 69, of the 1800 block of Varsity Drive departed this life September 23, 2008. Born in Winsor, North Carolina, she was employed with Jr. Market for 22 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of First Trinity A.M.E. Church.

She is predeceased by her son, James A. Smallwood. Survivors include her husband, Rayfield Skinner of Chesapeake; two daughters Mable Smallwood and Debra Brewer of Norfolk; mother, Casten Clemons of Norfolk, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held noon Saturday at First Trinity AME Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 2pm – 7pm Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The family will receive relatives and friends 2pm – 5pm Thursday at Sykes Apartments, 555 Liberty Street, Norfolk.
