IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teresa
Pretlow-Bond
January 25, 1956 – November 8, 2024
Teresa Pretlow-Bond, age 68, was surrounded by family when she gained her heavenly wings on November 8, 2024, at her home in Suffolk, VA. Teresa was a beautiful woman, known for her stylish sense of fashion and decor, as well as her intelligent and witty personality. She was a hard-working and independent woman who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Teresa expressed herself with confidence and encouraged others to be their best version of themselves. She had a passion for hosting family gatherings, cooking, decorating, and gardening.
Teresa grew up on Fernwood Farms Road. She graduated from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she was a majorette in the marching band. Soon after graduation, she married Jeffrey Bond, Sr. and from that union two children were born, Joy and Jeffrey, Jr. Teresa furthered her education at Norfolk State University, where she earned her degree in nursing. Her professional life was marked by a commendable career in nursing as a LPN, having worked at several hospitals including Bon-Secours Mercy Health from which she retired as Nurse and Analytical Data Abstractor. Besides her nursing career, she also enjoyed decorating and coordinating weddings, which evolved into her entrepreneurship, founding Flowers by Tee and co-founding TLC Limousine Service.
Her commitment to her faith was evident as she grew up in First Calvary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Much later on in life, she became a member of Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church. Teresa served her community by creating care baskets to donate to homeless shelters and to the sick and shut-in that lived in local nursing homes.
Teresa was affectionately referenced by her family as their very own Florence Nightingale, as she gave so much of her life providing care for her own family members. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua Pretlow, Sr. and Lucille Pretlow; sisters Portia Y. Pretlow and Charlotte Pretlow-Benson; and brothers, Michael Warren Pretlow and Anthony Irving Pretlow. Left to cherish her legacy are her daughter, Joy A. Bond-Thompson (Mincarlo); son, Jeffery A. Bond, Jr.; and brothers, Joshua Pretlow, Jr., Edward Pretlow, David Pretlow, and Larry Pretlow (Brenda), five grandchildren Laila, Elijah, Jazmin, Jeffrey III, Jordan, as well as a host of dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
