Terry Tyrone Manley was born in Norfolk, Virginia on May 1, 1964 to the late Raleigh and Clentora Manley. He transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home with the Lord on May 21, 2021.
He was employed by the Hampton Roads Shipping Association- International Longshoreman Association. He was a longtime active member of St. Joseph AME Zion Church where he served on the combined usher board, as a class leader, and a Missionary life member. He enjoyed reading his bible, racing his 1966 Chevy race car he built himself, riding his 2004 Honda motorcycle with family and friends, working on cars, servicing the community with his landscaping business. Terry was reliable, dependable, skillful and hard-working. Terry was a 1983 graduate of Oscar F. Smith High School in Chesapeake where he enjoyed playing football and wrestling.
Terry's love and legacy will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings Melvin Manley, Catherine Manley, Tyrone Manley, Luther Askew, and Thema Young. He is survived by his three beautiful daughters Ternisha Young, Terri Manley, and Tora Manley; grandchildren TaKya Manley and Joshua Young Jr.; siblings Joyce Bryant (Herbert), Carolyn Carrington, Raleigh Manley Jr. (Vera), Kareem Azeez, Willie Goins, Alfonza Manley, Jerry Manley (Brenda), and Maurice Manley (Karen), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Terry was the youngest of 14 children.
The Viewing will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The funeral service will be held at St. Joseph AME Zion Church on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
