On Friday, December 20, 2013, Thomas Lee Alexander, surrounded by his family, peacefully departed this life. Thomas was born in Chesapeake, VA. He lived at the 100 block of Indian Creek Road in Chesapeake, VA. He worked as a crane operator for 47 years at Kinder Morgan SE Terminals. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board at New Willow Grove Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA.
To carry on his legacy, Thomas leaves to cherish fond memories his loving wife Merrell Alexander. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Alexander (Chesapeake), and Leslie Hughes (Moyock, NC), and two sons Thomas L. Alexander Jr. (Alissa) and Fredrick Alexander both of Chesapeake, VA. He also leaves three sisters: Geraldine Butts, Gloria Dawson (Roy), and Betty Alexander, one brother, Alonzo Alexander Jr. (Stacey), and a special aunt, Rosie Turner, all whom are residents of Chesapeake, VA. He has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A home going celebration will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at New Willow Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
