Norfolk - Thomas L. Hendricks, 69, fondly known to his family as "Tomboy" entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 29, 2014 after battling a long illness.
He was the son of the late Rosa Mae "Pinky" and Earnest Hendricks, Sr. on February 23, 1945 in Harlem, NY and raised in the West Munden Section of Chesapeake by his grandparents Lee John and Roxie Wilson.
Tom was predeceased by his daughter, Felecia Hendricks, sister, Connie Simmons, and brother Ernest Hendricks, Jr.
He was a graduate of G.W. Carver High School, Class of 1964, where he was a star football and basketball star athlete; serving as Captain of both teams.
Tom was a devoted Christian and member of First Baptist Church Campostella serving as the chairman of the Deacon Board until his illness.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 18 years, Jackie Hendricks; loving daughters Dia Hendricks-Hayes, Nicole Smith, Dominique and Stephani Vaughan; sons, Derwin Banks, Nasir Hinton, Christopher and Brian Vaughan; sisters Phyllis Banks and Annettte Bradley, 11 grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
A wake will be held from 6-8pm on Friday at First Baptist Church Campostella. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church Campostella at 1510 Conoga Street, Norfolk. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
