Obituary
Verna Virginia Brumsey-Gordon, 86, of Chesapeake, died peacefully at home with her family at her side on Monday, July 11th, 2016.
She was born Oct. 16. 1929, in Camden, NC, to the late Colon Alexander Brumsey and Mattie Marie Harris.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, William H. Gordon Jr., her son William I. Gordon Sr., and her daughter Marion L. Gordon.
Mrs. Gordon is survived by two sons, Cedric L. Gordon of Chesapeake, and William I. Gordon Jr. (Anita) of Portsmouth; four daughters Connie G. Hinton (Rufus Jr.),Yvonne G. Upton (M. Emanuel Sr.), Delores V. Gordon (Nelson), and Jeana D. Gordon-Moss (Roger) all of Chesapeake, VA. One daughter-in-law, Janie G. Gordon of Norfolk, VA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016, from 3pm to 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Jesus Church of Deliverance located at 5246 Jones Lane, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Interment will be held at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
