On October 22, 2020, our beloved brother Vernon Kenneth Elliott entered into eternal rest. Born August 26, 1962 to the late James and Annie Elliot, Vernon was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System graduating from Manor High School Class of 1980. After graduating Vernon went on to serve in the United States Navy from October 14, 1980 until October 4, 1984. He served his tour of duty on the USS America CV-66 and the USS Enterprise CVN-65. He received the Navy Expeditionary Medal Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, with Bronze Star, and the Humanitarian Service Metal.

Vernon was a man who loved and served the Lord. He was a member of Grove Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Virginia. His love for a servant life would be demonstrated throughout his employment with Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.

Vernon was predeceased by his parents James L. Elliott Sr. and Annie Martin Elliott. Left to cherish his memories are brothers James Elliott(Jackie) of Portsmouth, VA, Larry Elliott (Marline) of Chesterfield, VA, and Phillip Elliott (Karen) of Bowie, M; sisters Cynthia Wagoner and Sandra Elliott of Portsmouth, VA; nephews, Larry Elliott Jr, Leigh Elliott, Stephen Wagoner, Darren Elliott, and Sterling Wagoner; nieces Catrina Lassiter and Chrishawn Murray; great nephews Destin Murray Sharod Wagoner, and Baruch Napper; great nieces, Kirstenne Murray, Gabrielle Wagoner, and Riley Wagoner, and a host of cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 am November 9, 2020 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23435. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
